Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium AWK’21 will take place on June 10 and 11, 2021

New Questions, Webinars and Digital Conference Booklet, April, 3, 2020

The 30th Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium will take place on June 10 and 11, 2021, at the Eurogress Aachen. Due to the developments concerning the spread of the corona virus (SARS-CoV-2), the AWK has been postponed from 2020 to 2021 with regard to the safety and health of participants, customers and employees and will therefore not take place in the usual three-year cycle.

With the upcoming year and the effects caused by the corona virus, which are already affecting many manufacturing companies and will have a long-term impact on the global economy, new questions arise about the future of production technology. The AWK’s thematic focus remains “Internet of Production Turning Data into Value”, but next year’s main objective will be to strengthen the resilience of companies, to enable them to deal with drastic economic crises and production downtimes in order to return to profitability within a short period of time. Therefore, the planned lecture program for AWK’21 will be updated and adapted.

The questions discussed in advance by numerous experts, how data in production contribute to value creation and which tools of the Internet of Production make this possible, have already been implemented in concrete content for the planned AWK’20. The resulting material will be made available to our customers and interested participants in digital form this year in the form of webinars and a digital conference booklet.

Tickets already purchased for participation in the 30th AWK will of course remain valid. Should further questions arise, the main organizer, Mr. Markus Meurer, will be looking forward to answer them.

Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium AWK’20 to be postponed

Consequence to global developments regarding the corona virus (Covid-19), March, 13, 2020

Due to the current developments concerning the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19), we have been intensively dealing with safety and protective precautions for the Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium AWK’20 during the past weeks. We take this topic very seriously and are in close contact with the health authorities of the city of Aachen as well as the event center, the Eurogress Aachen.

Since the safety and health of our participants, customers and employees have the highest priority, we decided in consultation with the health authorities and following the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute to postpone the 30th Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium.

At this point of time, given the expected increase in corona virus’ spread, this decision is right and appropriate. In spite of the intensified information, hygiene and disinfection efforts, the availability of quarantine zones and the increase of medical staff on site, the health security precautions demanded by the Robert Koch Institute regarding the organization of major events would have been no longer achievable at all AWK’20 locations.

We assume the situation will calm down over the coming months and that a safe and unrestricted execution of the AWK will be guaranteed next year at the latest. We are currently in coordination and re-planning with the event center and will announce the new date of the Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium as soon as possible.

At this point we would also like to thank our partners, speakers and participants for their trust and commitment. If you have any further questions regarding participation in the AWK’20, please don’t hesitate to contact our lead organizer, Mr. Markus Meurer.
